The Trip
Who, When & Why
August 22–29, 2026. Eight days somewhere up north. Four people, two cities of origin, one group chat that's been going in circles for months. This site exists to stop the loops and make a real decision.
The Travelers
Dates
Arrival: Saturday Aug 22. Departure: Saturday Aug 29. That's 7 full nights, 8 calendar days. In August, Scandinavia runs 17–19+ hours of daylight — especially in Norway and Iceland — so every day is long and every evening is golden.
What We're Looking For
We're young and want the real experience — not a packaged tour. Great food, interesting architecture, being outdoors, stumbling into something unexpected. Some nights where the city is alive and some mornings where it's just the four of us and a view. Not too scheduled, not too loose.
How to Decide
Four options are on the table. Each has a distinct character:
- Option A — The Capitals Triangle: foodie, design, nightlife. Three iconic cities, easy logistics, no compromises on comfort.
- Option B — Fjord Country: the dramatic one. Bergen, fjords, possibly Lofoten. You'll work for the views but they'll stay with you forever.
- Option C — Iceland: the wildcard. Technically not Scandinavia, but glaciers, geysers, midnight sun, and Sky Lagoon. Nothing else like it.
- Option D — Baltic Sampler: four countries in seven nights. Ends with an overnight ferry — the kind of thing you talk about for years.
Read each option in full, look at the comparison page, and then send a voice note. That's probably how this ends.
Constraints Worth Naming
- Austin pair needs a connecting flight — a meeting-point city matters. Copenhagen, Oslo, and Reykjavík all have good direct/one-stop routes from AUS.
- London pair can go direct to almost every Scandi capital in under 3 hours.
- Norway and Iceland skew more expensive. Denmark and Sweden are premium but manageable. Budget accordingly.
- August is peak season everywhere — book accommodation early once a decision is made.
